Oh, my gosh, this book.

I will admit, I didn’t fully read the back cover blurb for this book before diving in. I was drawn in by the concept of a bunch of guys having a romance book club and by the cover image of a guy with a romance novel tucked into his back pocket. (DROOL.) I’m kind of glad that I didn’t read the blurb, because I don’t really *do* second chance romances, and that’s sort of what this is? Gavin and Thea area already married, but their marriage is on the rocks and they’re on the brink of divorce. But in a way, since they had essentially a shotgun wedding and then his career immediately exploded, even though they’ve been married for three years they don’t really know each other – or at least not the people they’re growing to be.

As someone who has been married for 11 years, there were SO MANY elements of this book that made me to “AMEN, I feel that!” Gavin’s chapters had tears just silently pouring down my face (and my poor husband hovering concerned, asking “Are… Are you okay, babe?” haha). But then he’d turn around and COMPLETELY SCREW IT ALL UP in the chapters from Thea’s POV! And it was killer because as the reader getting to see each of their POVs I knew where his heart was, but I could still see how Thea was taking things wrong. And OH MY GOSH, the relatable snapshots of the mental load wives and mothers take on in most relationships was so realistic. Even when Gavin is trying to be helpful and take more on, he’s relied on his wife to take care of all of those details for so long that he doesn’t even know where the towels are.

There’s a little bit of the “magic penis” trope on The Bromance Book Club, but it’s got a twist on it because Thea’s inability to orgasm with her husband is based on her own trust issues as well as his technique, which is something they both can work on and resolve. I love that Gavin takes what he learns from the sex scenes he read and applies them. YESSS. I know my BJ game has improved thanks to useful things I’ve picked up in romance novels, and now I am ready to pick some romances with really good lady oral and make my husband read them… Haha. I think everyone would have way better sex lives (and also relationships!) if everyone read romance. (Also, book boner!!! LMAO!)

This is the first book in the Bromance Book Club series, and can be read as a stand alone. I CANNOT WAIT for the next book, Undercover Bromance, which is going to be about Mack and Liv!!!!!!!!!!
